Baker has never done anything athletic that contributed squat to his inclusion in the Dustin Waters DSL Hall of Fame.  Instead, he’s in here because he’s a DSL attention whore.  You see it in everything he does.  His desperation to be a captain, his incessant photobombing of DSL cameras, him always wanting to ump, his pleading for inclusion in podcasts, and his dumb “Locks of the Week'' segment that the league fell in love with.  He’s also one of the few remaining hecklers out there; god forbid you strike out swinging when he’s around!

That being said, I think Kory Baker is a quintessential DSL member, even though a ton of people disagree.  Let me explain.

They say it’s about the journey, not the destination.  In the DSL, there certainly are trophies you can win and stats you can be proud of.  But they strike me as not being the point.  The time spent with the people on and around that field is the point.  And Baker made the most of it for himself and everyone around him.  At any given time, I would have rather had Baker around me than not around me.  He added joy to a boring at-bat, a million throw-away jokes during an eventless middle inning, a laugh when you just lost the game.  That is why the league fell in love with him.  That’s why he’s a legend.  That’s why he deserves to be immortalized in the Dustin Waters DSL Hall of Fame.
